This historical looks at the evolution of offensive line technique and rule changes as it applies to the use of extended arms and hands. From 1888 to 1985, line coaches determined their philosophies and blocking technique to the rule stating that hands needed to stay in contact with the body and forearms parallel to the ground. Prior to 1888, interference, for the purpose of moving the football, was no more than a pushing and shoving contest.

I will begin to explain the best way possible as well as illustrate how to combine the 4.3.4 with the 4.2.5 and Odd Stack (3.3.5) These three defensive schemes feature a six & 7 man boxes with an eight man front. As we move through the installation process you will see how easy the three fit with each other. “Installing the 3-4 Defense With Multiple Fronts” manual is designed as an information tool for you as a coach to build upon with your own ideas and thoughts. The multiple 3 ¿ 4 defense allows you the ability to either rush 3, 4, or 5 down defenders, the 3 – 4 defense is an off shoot of the 5 – 2 defense. When rushing 3 down defenders this defense will allow you to put 8 defenders into pass coverage, if rushing, 4 defenders it allows for 7 defenders into coverage’s and if rushing 5 defenders you then can drop 6 defenders into coverage. This manual also includes terminology, techniques, front illustrations and coverage diagrams.
